How are you experiencing confinement?
Fortunately, I haven't been exposed to the virus yet and I'm trying my best to protect myself from it. In fact, I started confinement on my own two weeks earlier than the official day because I took it very seriously.
I live on a farm, so actually my confinement is quite pleasant because I'm surrounded by nature. And on a farm, you always have something to do. For the first time in my life, I realized how lucky I am to live here. I can enjoy the sun every day and do many outdoor activities. I spend my time in contact with horses (my favorite animals) who inspire me because they represent freedom, painting, meditating, or doing sports.
What is your state of mind?
I believe I have never changed my state of mind. Every day of my life, I am always happy and positive because I fight to continue doing what I love: painting. Of course, I miss people, but I know the sun will shine again. We just have to wait.
My mission in life is to create emotions and values for others, so that's what I seek and fight for. Being a painter is for me what I feel inside and love, and a mission to accomplish. This "sick" world needs more colors, and I think that's why I'm here.
Does this confinement experience have an impact on your artistic approach?
In fact, I was beginning to experiment with new techniques, ideas, and media. I started working on watercolor paper, for example. This gave me the impetus to work even more with warm colors because they bring energy, which is what we need now.
During this time, I am also invited to do an online art workshop and an online interview. It is quite good to see how much artistic communication has also evolved during this period, and the art world is moving towards digital communication and experimenting with new sharing opportunities that we had never thought of before.
Are you practicing during confinement? If so, can you tell us about your new works?
I am working on new paintings and I am taking this time to experience something new. My latest works are very colorful and I am also working on new mediums. I think that the emotions we can feel with a work of art are created by colors. They are present in nature so I think they represent pure art.
