Can you tell us more about your concrete experience of the lockdown ?
This lockdown is a great opportunity for us to be in family with our 3 year old son in our house in Saint Barthélemy. We enjoy the sweetness of living here. We are fortunate to be spared the virus because the island has had very few reported cases.
What is your personal state of mind ?
We live in an environment close to nature which allows us to be calm and serene in the face of this pandemic.
The impact of lockdown immersed us a little more in our art because we don't go out except to do some shopping.
Does the lockdown experience have an impact on your art ?
We spend our days in our house and our workshop which is on site.
The lockdown feels like an artistic life without projection. It is a timeless parenthesis that facilitates inspiration and imagination. This allows us to think and create slowly.
Ceramics is an art that requires patience and concentration. It is preferable to "live slow" because the production process can take more than a month between manufacturing, drying, cooking and finishing.
Do you practice your art during the lockdown? if yes, can you tell us about your new pieces?
We took this opportunity to cook our first collection. Cooking takes about ten hours and requires attention throughout the day. It is always with a real excitement that we discover our cooked and finished pieces.
We started to create our second collection inspired by the textures of volcanic rock. We wanted to work, in addition to design, the material and the reliefs that the earth offers us.
