Can you tell us more about your concrete experience of the lockdown ?

During these uncertain moments, concern wins over all of us. Our thoughts go out to the most vulnerable people, the most fragile members of our families, our parents, brothers and cousins who work in the service of individuals and in the hospital environment.

As a mother of a large family, school teacher and multidisciplinary artist (in photography, plastic arts, music and dance) a day of lockdown can be like a marathon.

Optimistic in nature, I see this lockdown as an opportunity to refocus on what seems essential: good physical and mental health, my family, dense interpersonal relationships, even from a distance, and moderate consumption if possible turned towards what the earth offers us.

On a daily basis, this confinement exacerbates my sensitivity. Art allows me to express what I feel.

What is your personal state of mind ?

During this lockdown, a ritual of practicing meditation was naturally started and I feel a lot of gratitude every day towards all the people mentioned above, but also, towards life and nature.

For several years, my companion has maintained our vegetable garden, as well as an orchard, and it seems to us today more than necessary to share our enthusiasm for a certain form of self-sufficiency.

Finally, a long work of introspection takes place. I seek to understand the human challenges in these times of crisis as well as the place that women occupy in their family, professional and more generally in society.

While listening to my intuitions, I continue to train myself, to document myself and in this way, I dig my artistic identity.

Does the lockdown experience have an impact on your art ?

In the same day, I sometimes play a few cello notes, then physically stretch during dance exercises and then indulge in macro photography or light painting before resuming the thread of a plastic composition …

And this, very often, in the presence of my children with whom I have been sharing my artistic impressions from a very young age.

This experience of lockdown therefore allows me to develop both an artistic approach endowed with femininity, sensitivity turned towards the natural environment and the concept of sharing with youth, be they my children or my students.

Do you practice your art during the lockdown ? if yes, can you tell us about your new pieces ?

My last plastic composition "Earth" places me in the center of my habitat, my island, St Barth, my planet, the Earth, made of natural elements water, air, earth and fire.

Multidisciplinarity is taking part in this work which uses several media: painting, as well as collage and photography.

This very methodical work resembles me; like Gaia, I naturally feed my children ... in a sensitive, physical and intellectual way.
