St Barth Shells

By Laurent Benoit

Laurent Benoit came to Saint Barth as a diving instructor. It is under water that he took his first pictures.

His Shells series documents the collection of the Corossol seashell museum — 9,000 shells gathered from around the world. It was the second largest shell collection in the world. The museum is now closed.

He photographs one shell at a time using the lighting techniques of fine jewelry photography. The result is precise, full of light, and commanding.
